Whitegrove Primary School

Harmanswater Primary Digital Print Project
"One of the most positive aspects of the project has been the
enthusiasm of the staff who visited during the 3 days. Each one was
inspired and immediately saw how this could be developed to enhance
the curriculum back at school.
It was a wonderful opportunity for all concerned" Mike Chesters, ICT Manager

In July 2005, eighteen pupils from Harmanswater School visited us over 3 days to work on a digital print project with artist, Janet Curley Cannon. Each pupil created an image which was printed out onto art quality paper from our large format printer.

We were so happy with the outcome, we exhibited the prints in the Community Gallery at South Hill Park from 8th October-13th November 2005.

Edgbarrow School
Claymation Project

Students from Edgbarrow School visited us at the end of the 2005 Summer term for 3 days of animation and music-making.

The group were set themes of "exploration" and "historical events" as a basis for their tales.

They modelled clay characters and build sets and props before taking to the cameras and beginning to bring their story to life with stop-frame animation.

Once the animations were complete, they returned to the DMC for a second session where they created an original soundtrack for their movies.

The final outcome has been made into a DVD for a future school presentation. Two of the short movies can be viewed by clicking the links below:

Silicon Fenn

Silicon Valley@Bracknell

Digital artist, Susan Collins has been commissioned to expand the scope of her live digital imaging project, with a new location based on top of the Cadence building in Bracknell.

"The webcams are harvesting images pixel by pixel, recording at different rates over the course of the year. Each image is collected from top to bottom and left to right in horizontal bands continuously, marking visible fluctuations in light and movement throughout the day and being archived at two hour intervals."

The image was shown live in the Atrium at South Hill Park during February-April. The live camera stream is planned to run until the end of 2005.

To see a larger version of the live image and download a full screen application, please visit Susan Collins' web site.

Wired Words

Wired Words
Our Wired Words audio-visual course provides a high speed media lab environment for artists with an interest in exploring the possibilities of combining, text, audio collage and video animation. In Autumn 2005, tutors, Jane Draycott and Martin Franklin, worked with a group of MA students from Camberwell Art School, whose work from the course was later screened in the Atrium at SHP.
