Beginners Photography & Imaging
Date: 8 weeks beginning Weds 27th January (NB: Half Term break 15th Feb)

A modular course taking you step by step to understanding more about the functions on your digital
camera, taking eye catching photographs and manipulating your images on the computer. Combining practical
photography and Adobe Photoshop tuiton, with on hand help and advice as you create. Course applicable to
both SLR and compact camera users.

As a creative photographer, form and structure are very important in her work with angle, light and perspective being used as the key to achieving impact. Digital Photography

Designed for beginners who want to develop their skills with a digital camera beyond 'point and shoot' photography. The course will give you hands-on experience of composition, lighting, using manual settings and the changes and image enhancements you can achieve using Adobe Photoshop.

Photoshop

Introduction course in which you will learn the functions and tool box of Adobe Photoshop. You will follow a set of prepared projects to learn to crop, copy, retouch and collage photos and develop graphic images your own artwork.

She graduated from Brighton University with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design and spent successful years in the advertising and design industry. She then became involved in training graphics including the Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office, becoming a Microsoft Master Instructor. She currently runs her own IT Training business and also teaches Graphic Design at local Universities.

Web Design

A practical course to take you through the steps and techniques for constructing a creative website using Dreamweaver CS3. Topics will include site planning, basic HTML, design issues, CSS, image optimizing, site management and web hosting.

Adobe Illustrator

Two day introduction to Adobe Illustrator and the basic tools and techniques to create vector illustrations. Participants will develop an original image for print on our large format Epson SC7600. Bring photographic images to use as source material.

Rose Davies About the Tutor
Rose graduated in 2003 gaining a BA Hons in graphic design, then worked in the industry at a variety of agencies in Bath, Bristol and London. She later decided to share her experiences and passion for design with others through teaching. She has been teaching graphic design full time for the past two years.

Introduction to tools and techniques for animation and interactivity using Flash CS3, including layers, keyframes, sound, buttons, basic Actionscript and movie publishing. Practical, project-based examples and the chance to work on your own final animation.

Digital Artist Books

Experiment with image development by collaging and scanning materials, manipulating images in Adobe Photoshop and combining paper textures into a simple book format. Heather is a professional artist and educator. Her strong background as a printmaker has extended her indepth grasp of digital imaging techniques and photography. She gained an MA in Printmaking from the Camberwell School of Art and is currently based at Open Hand Open Space studios in Reading.

Her animation's have been screened in numerous international festivals and her print work is profiled in several recent publications on contemporary printmaking. She gained her MA in Printmaking from Camberwell College, University of the Arts, London in 2005.

Gemma grew up in Somerset and moved to London to study Theatre crafts and Puppet Theatre in 1999 at the Central School of Speech and Drama. She went on to study Animation direction for 2 Years at the National Film and Television School where she has experimented with many techniques and performance styles. She has produced work for the Electric Proms with Warp Films and the BBC, and recently created an Art Break Stint for MTV.

Digital Photography: Composition

Spend a day addressing creative composition in your photography. An introduction to composition ideas and techniques, photographing around the South Hill Park mansion with individual tuition, followed by analysis of the images. For all levels of experience with either SLR or compact camera.

Experimental Digital Printmaking

Experiment with printing on to different papers, collage materials, fabric, and/or applying digital transfers to other surfaces using Ink Aid. The emphasis will be on exploring and experimenting with digital images using the Epson 7600 large format printer. Participants should have a working knowledge of Photoshop.

DIY Contact Mic Recording
